Perplexity Pro gives you access to advanced AI models, unlimited Pro searches, and file uploads, but at $20 a month it adds up fast. Here's exactly how to cancel, whether you signed up on the web, iPhone, or Android.
Before You Start
Find out where you originally subscribed. This matters because Perplexity can't cancel a subscription that was purchased through Apple or Google — you have to cancel it in the same place you bought it.
- Web signup (credit card or PayPal): Cancel through perplexity.ai
- iOS signup: Cancel through your Apple ID subscriptions
- Android signup: Cancel through Google Play
Check your email for the original receipt if you're not sure. The sender (Perplexity, Apple, or Google) tells you where to go.
Cancel Perplexity Pro on the Web
Use this method if you paid directly through Perplexity's website with a card or PayPal.
- Go to perplexity.ai and sign in to your account.
- Click your profile icon in the bottom-left corner.
- Select Settings from the menu.
- Open the Account tab.
- Scroll to the Subscription section and click Manage Subscription.
- On the Stripe billing page that opens, click Cancel plan.
- Confirm the cancellation.
You'll get a confirmation email from Stripe within a few minutes. Save it in case you need proof later.
Cancel Perplexity Pro on iPhone or iPad
If you subscribed through the iOS app, the charge shows up on your Apple bill, not through Perplexity.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap your name at the top to open your Apple ID.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Find Perplexity in the active subscriptions list and tap it.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Apple sends a confirmation email. Your Pro access stays active until the current billing period ends.
Cancel Perplexity Pro on Android
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Go to Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
- Tap Perplexity.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
Track your trial deadline and cancel before you get charged.
What Happens After You Cancel
Your Pro features remain active until the end of the period you already paid for. After that, your account switches back to the free plan — you keep your search history, threads, and Collections, but you lose access to Pro searches, advanced models like GPT-4 and Claude, and file uploads.
Perplexity does not usually issue prorated refunds for the unused portion of a monthly plan. If you cancel an annual plan shortly after renewal and think you qualify for a refund, contact support at support@perplexity.ai.
Perplexity Cancellation Policy at a Glance
| Detail | What to Expect |
|---|---|

| Refund on monthly plan | Generally not offered |
| Refund on annual plan | Case-by-case, contact support quickly |

If you're on a free trial through a promo (like a student or partner offer), cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Apple and Google both bill on the exact hour the trial started.
Common Problems and Fixes
"Manage Subscription" button is missing. You probably subscribed through iOS or Android. Cancel in Apple Subscriptions or Google Play instead.
You got charged after canceling. Check the date — if the charge came in before your next billing cycle, it's the renewal that already processed. Email support@perplexity.ai with your receipt and cancellation confirmation.
You want a refund for an annual plan. Reach out to Perplexity support within a few days of the charge. Explain that you canceled and didn't intend to renew. Refund success depends on how much time has passed and how much of the plan you've used.
Can't remember which email you used. Try each account you have. Perplexity accounts are tied to Google, Apple, or email login — check your bank statement for the charging entity (Perplexity vs. Apple vs. Google) to narrow it down.
Want to pause instead of cancel. Perplexity doesn't offer a pause option. Your only choices are to cancel and resubscribe later, or downgrade to the free tier by canceling.
