Poe by Quora gives you access to GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, and other models under one subscription, but the billing setup depends on where you signed up. This guide shows you exactly where to cancel based on your device and what to expect afterward.
Before You Start
Find out where you originally subscribed. Poe processes payments through three separate channels:
- Apple (if you subscribed in the iOS app)
- Google Play (if you subscribed in the Android app)
- Stripe / web (if you subscribed at poe.com)
You can only cancel from the same platform you paid on. Trying to cancel an Apple subscription from the web won't work, and vice versa.
To check, open Poe, tap your profile, then Settings > Subscription. It will show which store manages your billing.
Cancel Poe Premium on the Web
Use this method if you subscribed through poe.com with a credit card.
- Go to poe.com and sign in.
- Click your profile picture in the bottom-left corner.
- Select Settings.
- Scroll to the Subscription section.
- Click Manage Subscription. This opens the Stripe billing portal.
- Click Cancel plan and confirm.
You'll get an email confirming the cancellation. Your Premium features stay active until the end of your current billing period.
Cancel Poe Premium on iPhone or iPad
Apple handles all iOS subscriptions, so cancelling inside the Poe app isn't possible.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Find Poe in the list and tap it.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
If you don't see Poe listed, you may be signed in to a different Apple ID than the one used at purchase. Apple's subscription help page covers this in more detail.
Cancel Poe Premium on Android
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon in the top-right.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
- Select Poe.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
You can also cancel from play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions in a browser.
Track your trial deadline and cancel before you get charged.
Billing, Refunds, and What You Keep
Once you cancel, Premium access continues until your current period ends. After that, your account reverts to the free tier automatically. You'll still be able to sign in, use limited daily messages, and access any bots you created.
Refund policies depend on where you paid:
| Payment Platform | Refund Policy |
|---|---|
| Web (Stripe via Poe) | Contact Poe support directly at poe.com/support. Refunds are handled case by case. |
| Apple (iOS) | Request through reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides eligibility. |
| Google Play (Android) | Request within 48 hours via Google Play, or contact Poe for older charges. |
Annual subscribers who cancel mid-year usually keep access until the annual term ends rather than getting a prorated refund. If you were charged unexpectedly right after cancelling, request a refund immediately through the correct channel.
Common Problems
"Manage Subscription" button is missing on the web. This means your subscription is billed through Apple or Google, not Stripe. Check your Poe settings screen for the platform name and cancel there instead.
You cancelled but got charged again. Cancellations only stop future renewals. If your billing date already passed, that charge stands. Double-check the cancellation email to confirm the end date.
Can't find Poe under Apple Subscriptions. You're likely signed in to a different Apple ID. Sign out and back in with the ID linked to the original purchase.
You want to keep your custom bots. Your bots stay on your account after downgrading. Some higher-tier models will just be gated behind the paid plan again.
Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date. Apple and Google both process renewals early, and same-day cancellations often don't stop the next charge.
Downgrade Instead of Cancel
If you only want to reduce cost, Poe sometimes offers a lower-tier annual plan when you click Cancel. Watch for a retention offer on the confirmation screen before you finalize the cancellation.
